A perfect Storm

The article I chose to read was called, A Perfect Storm, by Rick Santorum. This article is an excerpt from the book, It Takes Family, and it addresses the question if pornography poses a threat to society, to family, or to individuals. The author discusses the question using the Amendments one, five, and fourteen. My favorite part of the article was ending when the author stated, “The court’s decisions have undermined these institutions, creating in their place a society of atomized and de-moralized individuals, shielded by the village elders from the natural moral influences of family and faith”. I really think this summarizes the whole article and brings for a good discussion because the government tries to hide the fact that pornography is becoming a bigger issue and is the cause for a lot of the crime in America. In a way it is hard for the government to ban this kind of behavior because of the Amendments and how people are allowed to express themselves how they want. I think that because it is a growing problem the government should fine the individuals that are producing the images and put the woman in some kind of program to not expose their bodies that way. This can also lead into the argument of what can be considered pornography. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders for example dance around in practically nothing and we find this team and the cheerleaders one of the largest things associated with America. It is hard to encourage one thing and then discourage something else because of two pieces of clothing.
