Toddlers and Tiaras

The show toddlers and tiaras is one of the most addicting shows I have ever watched. At first the show is comical but after each episode it starts to make me angrier at the parents of these toddlers. Most of the parents on the show are forcing there children to wear make-up, fake teeth, and spray tan to win money for being the prettiest. First of all, it is teaching these children that being pretty is going to make them successful and that is the most important thing in life. The parents are ultimately rewarding the children for being fake. The second problem I have with this show is the outfits the parents are putting there children in. Half the girls look and dance like mini strippers and most of the time the girls with the most revealing and provocative dance are the ones who win. What is this teaching girls who are participating in the pageants and for the girls that are watching this on television? When the parents set this beauty standard for their girls at such a young age it will most likely lead to future problems in the girls, some which might be eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, sex, and neglect. This is because when the girls get older, they are not as cute as they when they were four, and the attention will no longer be all on them. Therefore they will need another way of getting attention, I will not be surprised if i see a few of those girls on Toddler and Tiaras on Sixteen and Pregnant in a few years.
