Seniority vs Security

          When switching to a new job from a current one, one of the fears is losing that "seniority" that exists. That is one reason why people work at the same place for 10,20,30 years. Seniority does not always play a big part in the working environment but when it does it is used to decided who gets to leave early, who gets the first choice in hours, and acts as a cushion if a mistake is made. Security is important when working at a hospital, construction, and almost every day to day job. I think that security should be the main focus at any job especially at a hospital when dealing with patients and every day demands of that hospital calls for. For example, take two people, one has been on the job for a year, enough time to understand the responsibilities and learn the job, but is only 20 years old. The other people has been working at the same job for 20 years and is 50 years old. Then say a life threatening situation, that could have been prevented, happened on the 50 year old watch. In the end the event was pushed aside because of how long they have been working and the connections that they have made. If the same situation happened to the 20 year old, they would have been punished or fired. I think a person starts to get comfortable at a job after 5 and then starts to get lazy and not put enough effort into the job. This is because they have this seniority to relax and not put 110% into their work. I think that everyone should be punished the same way and security should be the factor to decide major decisions.
